Heritage Exteriors Partners with Willmar Fire Department to Support Fire Safety Education
At Heritage Exteriors, the work we do is about more than improving buildings, it’s about supporting the communities we call home.
That’s why we were proud to collaborate with the Willmar Fire Department to help update and maintain its mobile safety and smokehouse training trailer, an important resource used to bring hands-on fire safety education directly to families and community members throughout the area.
About the Mobile Smokehouse
The Willmar Fire Department’s mobile safety training smokehouse serves as an interactive educational tool designed to help people learn what to do in the event of a house fire.
Rather than simply talking about fire safety, the trailer gives children, families, and other community members an opportunity to experience important safety lessons in an engaging, memorable way.
Through demonstrations and hands-on education, participants can learn about topics such as home escape planning, smoke safety, emergency preparedness, and what to do when a fire occurs.
For children especially, having an opportunity to practice these skills can help turn an important safety message into something they can better understand and remember.
Helping Keep an Important Community Resource in Great Shape
Because the mobile safety trailer travels throughout the community and is regularly used for public education and outreach, keeping it maintained and looking its best is important.
Heritage Exteriors had the opportunity to assist the Willmar Fire Department with updates and maintenance to the exterior of the trailer.
It was a unique project for our team, but one with a purpose we were especially excited to support. The finished trailer can continue traveling to events, schools, demonstrations, and other community activities while representing the Willmar Fire Department and its commitment to fire prevention and education.
Building Safer Communities Through Education
Fire safety starts long before an emergency happens.
Knowing how to safely exit a home, having an escape plan, understanding the importance of working smoke alarms, and teaching children how to respond during an emergency are lessons that can make a real difference.
Resources like the Willmar Fire Department’s mobile Smokehouse make those conversations more accessible by bringing fire safety education directly into the community.
For Heritage Exteriors, being able to contribute to a project that supports that mission made this one especially meaningful.
